Fire reading is a form of divination best practised alone, although you can also read for someone else. In that case, seat the person on your left and hold their right hand between both of yours while you gaze into the fire. Sometimes, even if you look into the fire for a long time, nothing appears – but this is not a bad sign. Simply try the reading again a little later. A single session of fire-gazing should not last longer than ten minutes. When reading fire, the shapes of the flames closest to you symbolise the matters that concern you most strongly. The tallest flames often symbolise the present, and the lower down towards the embers, the further into the future. The more directly a symbol faces you, the more strongly it concerns the person asking. Let your instinct and imagination guide you: your first reactions and interpretations are usually the right ones.
