Each of us has to find the method that suits us best. To find it, get to know the different schools and try out which one works best for you.
Whatever you call it, meditation will bring you many benefits. All you have to do is understand what it involves and practise it regularly, every day. The Creator designed us so that we can naturally change our state of consciousness and use this ability for our own good. You need to understand that you can be completely independent and remain fully in control of your life at all times, in line with the choices you make every day. You don’t have to depend on other people’s whims and wishes. You don’t have to give up your dreams, or any part of your own “self”, to meet someone else’s expectations of you.
Have you ever wondered why some people feel happy and others don’t? Why some fall ill often while others feel fine? You don’t have to be unhappy, and you don’t have to be ill – you have a right to happiness.
The reason people don’t enrich their lives is that they don’t know how. They try to swim against the current instead of letting it carry them and making use of their natural energy.
Only you decide how to use the knowledge you gain here. Hypnosis is often considered the ultimate achievement in using the mind to solve problems and reach goals. An alcoholic undergoes hypnosis and gives up drinking – is there anything more astonishing? Hypnosis is certainly a powerful tool.
To learn to meditate properly, you need to understand how to lower the frequency of your brainwaves. This is done with simple relaxation and visualisation techniques.
Lay your head on the pillow and close your eyes, and your brain will automatically begin to slow down so that you can rest and dream. We distinguish beta, alpha, theta and delta waves:
- Beta waves – when we are awake and carrying out our daily tasks, our brain operates in this range (20–25 cycles per second)
- Alpha waves – daydreams and dreams (6–14 cycles per second)
- Theta waves – emotional experiences in sleep (4–8 cycles per second)
- Delta waves – complete unconsciousness (4–5 cycles per second)
Reaching altered states.
It is actually quite simple. If you want to use your abilities, all you need to learn is how to bring your brain into the alpha or theta state and keep it there, without falling asleep, for as long as you wish. Although it sounds easy, it does take some effort and discipline. Remember that every time you close your eyes, your brain automatically begins to produce alpha waves. To start meditating, you need to learn visualisation, because it is the key to reaching the theta state whenever you like.
To reach our goal we need to quieten ourselves, because only in deep silence, far from the noise, can we hear the voice of the Higher Self.
Meditation is an excellent method of self-healing, for both body and mind. Illnesses are often the result of wrong thinking, stress and the general noise of life that has become part of us. That is why it is best to get rid of them through meditation – through a complete change in the way we perceive the world. I warmly recommend meditation to you; it has changed a great deal in my life. I struggled with many ailments that eventually disappeared thanks to daily quiet time and so-called inner self-healing.
Each of us has the power to heal ourselves. So we don’t need to go anywhere or look for someone who can make contact with God or heal us; instead, we need to look within and find the solutions to our problems there.
This is about making contact with your own divinity – with your higher self, which knows everything and is infallible. Look in the Bible: it says that we are part of the Creator. All of humanity forms one divinity. Let us believe this and try to change our lives by drawing closer to our divinity through meditation.
Speaking of the divinity of the human being is no heresy; it is the plain truth, which unfortunately we keep hidden inside us. We have a great deal of strength and healing power – allow yourself to use it for your own good and that of others. Religions often make us feel unworthy of being close to God, which is very hurtful, given that God is love and loves all His children. You should not feel rejected by God: change the way you think, try to enter a meditative state, and understand the principles that govern our lives.
There is a procedure that lets you change your state of consciousness in order to reach a desired goal: it is called hypnosis. It could just as well be called meditation or prayer.
Most of the problems we meet in life are the result of emotional, spiritual and mental entanglement. We often don’t believe in our own strength; we withdraw into ourselves and overload both body and mind. The problem is that we often have no idea what we really put our faith in. Most of our beliefs are hidden deep in the subconscious, and we have no conscious contact with them. Sometimes very little is needed – a single sentence spoken by someone close to us can block our development for years. A small child’s subconscious absorbs everything its parents say and accepts it as revelation. On the other hand, we often don’t truly believe in what we think we believe, or in what we think we ought to believe. We often deceive ourselves and block our own growth.
Without meditation we cannot grow. We will never cope with our problems unless we learn to quieten ourselves and make regular meditation a habit.
