PARAPSYCHOLOGY – PSI. The term PSI was introduced as a neutral label for the variety of “parapsychological” phenomena, free of the built-in assumptions carried by terms such as psychokinesis, telepathy, spiritualist phenomena, apports, teleportation and exteriorisation. The main problem with these terms is that they lack precise definitions indicating which phenomena can be counted as psi and which are excluded. PSI has been defined as the “unknown factor” in psychic experiences – often described as a factor that does not operate through conventional channels.

RADIESTHESIA – in the past this was defined simply as the art of detecting underground water with a divining rod and a pendulum. A distinction is made between:
PHYSICAL RADIESTHESIA, that is, drawing conclusions from the movement of a pendulum or rod without asking any questions.
- Beta waves – these occur when we carry out our daily tasks. Our brain usually functions at the frequency of beta waves, roughly 12–15 cycles per second and above, although most activities take place at 20–25 cycles per second. This is how our conscious mind works; at this level we understand and carry out all our duties.
- Alpha waves – the frequency range of alpha waves is roughly 6–14 cycles per second. This is the phase of daydreams and dreams. Hypnotic states and certain psychic experiences also appear in this range.
- Theta waves – defined as between 4 and 8 cycles per second. In this state we have emotional experiences. It is also a good starting point for psychic experiences.
- Delta waves – a frequency below 4–5 cycles per second characterises a state of complete unconsciousness.
When you fall asleep, your brain quickly leaves the beta state and, passing through alpha and theta, reaches the delta state, where it stays for only a short time. The best-known pattern is a descent from beta to delta within 30 minutes, followed by 30 to 90 minutes in delta. At that point the brain moves into theta and then into alpha, in which you dream for a while. During roughly eight hours of sleep, you spend about 30–90 minutes in delta, 30–60 minutes in theta and the rest in alpha.
If you want to use psychic abilities, all you need to learn is how to bring your brain into the alpha or theta state and keep it there, without falling asleep, for as long as you wish. (I warmly recommend William W. Hewitt’s book on developing psychic abilities.) Visualisation is one such way of reaching the theta state at any moment and then using it for psychic experiences. Other well-known techniques include Huna, the oldest known spiritual and psychological knowledge of humankind, on which all psychotronic systems of working with the subconscious are based. Another method is the
Silva Method, created by José Silva, which has many followers around the world. It is a set of basic techniques for working with the mind in the alpha state. The last method is
synchro-theta, a method developed by Robert A. Monroe, which uses specially prepared music recordings to tune the brain correctly.
4. DIVINATION
Divination means any prediction of the future based on grounds other than rational ones. This group includes fortune telling, precognition and clairvoyance.
- BIOENERGY THERAPY – healing with biological energy, whose existence and effects psychotronics accepts without reservation. The source of this energy is the Universe; the bioenergy therapist merely directs its flow through the patient’s body during a session.
- PRECOGNITION – this is also a form of extrasensory perception. The term was introduced deliberately, because there are special tests for assessing the phenomenon. Literally, precognition means “seeing in advance” or “knowing beforehand”. Events that have yet to take place in the future pass before our eyes like films. The information is transmitted over a distance, so the seer does not need to be at the place in question.
5. HEALING CLAIRVOYANCE – is used in almost all psychic work. It is the power to perceive things beyond the normal range of the human senses – a heightened intuitive insight or perception. Clairvoyance is defined as the ability to see clearly, without any physical connection, what is happening in a place at any distance – and in time as well, because clairvoyants can both recreate past events and see clearly what will happen. In its most basic form, clairvoyance is simply a strong hunch that something will or will not happen. This innate ability probably helped early humans survive. As humanity developed, people became less and less dependent on clairvoyance and relied more on newly discovered means of communication (such as writing and language).
- FORTUNE TELLING – the ability to diagnose a person’s current state and to predict the future from a seemingly random arrangement of symbols (playing cards, tarot, runes, horoscopes, numerology and so on) or with other techniques, such as palmistry or the pendulum.
It is believed that by properly tuning the mind and its physical basis – the brain – you can shape your living environment at will. There are a great many such techniques today, but all of them rely on synchronising the work of both brain hemispheres in a single rhythm, usually in the alpha state. Let us pause for a moment to explain brainwaves and what you need to do to enter the right state of mind. First, you need to learn to lower the frequency of your brainwaves, which is done with simple relaxation and visualisation techniques. The frequency of your brainwaves fluctuates countless times every day, and this is most noticeable in the evening, before sleep. Lay your head on the pillow, close your eyes, and your brain will automatically begin to slow down so that you can rest. We distinguish four types of brainwave, and they have been found to be linked with different functions of the mind – including the experience of paranormal phenomena.
