Reading coffee grounds.
A key to your future.
Reading grounds is one particular branch of fortune telling, practised centuries ago in many parts of the world. The best-known form is reading brewed tea leaves. Many fortune tellers believe that tea leaves are much larger, which allows them to read the future better. Often, however, people who visit a fortune teller prefer a coffee-ground reading. It works in the same way as with tea: after you have drunk your tea or coffee, the grounds that remain settle in a particular way, forming symbols that the fortune teller interprets. A reading like this requires at least two people. Some people believe they can read their own future from the grounds, but many cannot. For many people it is simply entertainment.
Many people consider these to be occult practices. Personally, I don’t think this has anything to do with occultism or spiritualism. I also advise you not to believe in this kind of fortune telling completely – treat it in moderation, as an interesting form of entertainment. Please don’t make any important decisions based on readings from grounds.
Setting the scene for a reading
Choose the kind of tea you like and brew it in an old-fashioned mug or cup, which should be shallow and wide rather than narrow. Choose light-coloured porcelain rather than dark, and never use black mugs.
Preparing the coffee. When you make coffee the usual way, there are generally no grounds left at the bottom of the cup, so let me tell you how to prepare it.
Boil some water. Use the same amount of coffee as always: measure one teaspoon of coffee to six spoonfuls of boiling water – a ratio of 1:6. This coffee won’t taste great, but it will be easier to read.
Put the coffee in the mug; most of the grounds will settle at the bottom. You can add sugar and milk as usual.
Drinking the coffee.
When you get to the bottom, try not to drink the grounds – leave them alone and don’t stir. Drink as much of the coffee as you can so that only the grounds remain, not the liquid.
The ritual.
No elaborate rituals are needed. Some people turn the cup three times to the right. Then place your hands on the cup and make a wish.
Atmosphere and mood.
Concentrate, close your eyes and think about your wish or your question. If a fortune teller is reading your grounds, you need to pass your thoughts and your question on through them.
Symbols and their meaning.
The reader should hold the cup in one hand and your hand in the other. The reader will then look for images and signs in the coffee.
Everyone interprets differently – it depends on the individual psyche. Usually these are images and symbols that answer the question.
I use symbols for my answers. Here are some symbols and their meanings: apple – sincerity and creativity; bow – money in business; bread – dreams, plans, hopes and desires; camera – you are attracted to someone; bridge – an important decision about which path to take; coins (zloty coins) – money is on its way to you.
Readings like this usually come true within four months, and no later.
